Rainer-Leonhardt Violin

Rainer-Leonhardt Violin

$5,500.00

Rainer Leonhardt, born into a lineage of violin artisans in Mittenwald in 1963, began mastering his craft at the local technical school, earning his diploma in 1982. Apprenticeships under seasoned makers honed his skills, culminating in a master’s degree from the Munich Chamber of Crafts in 1990.

In his workshop, Leonhardt blends Mittenwald’s traditions with modern techniques, meticulously crafting each instrument by hand. He selects spruce and maple tonewoods from Germany, Bosnia, Austria, and Italy, inspired by Italian and German legacies.

His craftsmanship has earned acclaim from institutions like the French Violin Maker Association and the Bavarian Chamber of Crafts. In 1997, he was named best European participant in the European Association of Violin and Bow Makers competition.

Leonhardt’s creations are renowned for their resonance and clarity. His violins, crafted with precision from aged woods and adorned with deep varnish over a golden base, epitomize his mastery, each showcasing clear, strong, and focused tones.
