Clement & Weise Violin (SOLD)
Clement & Weise Violin (SOLD)
Klaus Clement and Hagen Weise met as collaborators at the Roderich Paesold violin-making studio, where Clement was the senior luthier running the master workshop for this esteemed, 100+-year-old company. Clement further established his reputation as the author of the seminal book on violin varnish. Clement is noted for historical reproductions that incorporate his aesthetic and scientific exploration of historic varnishes and his collaboration with Hagen Weise, a younger and brilliantly talented maker, brought a strong team to creating a series of excellent violins for a world of players. Today, the two have gone their separate ways, but these collaborative instruments were a shining moment in both of their careers. This violin bears the signature varnish, created by Clement, a deep amber varnish, lightly antiqued with a characteristic orange-peel patina. This violin is an excellent instrument for an advancing player to find a bright and outbound sound, clear and harmonically balanced into the upper positions with a strong and well-defined G string.
