Nancy Simon is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana who has been living in Eunice, Louisiana since 1988. Her formal training as a violinist began at age eleven. She has performed as a solo violinist with the USL Symphony at age twelve, as a violinist with the USL Opera Guild, was a member of L'Orchestre in Lafayette, Louisiana and a member of the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. She has had winning performances in a number of classical as well as fiddling contests. Mrs. Simon is the director/instructor of Nancy Simon's School of Music, a licensed music school which boasts a current enrollment of approximately 100 students. Her school offers performance, theory, ensemble and symphony experience. Lessons in classical violin, Cajun fiddle, piano, cello, viola, harp, banjo and guitar are included in her curriculum. Her program includes a summer music camp for children ages 4-7. A number of her students have auditioned for and been accepted by the Acadiana Symphony Youth Orchestra and/or been awarded music scholarships to various universities. In addition to her private teaching, she is a member of the Allegro string ensemble, is the founder and conductor of the Eunice Symphony Orchestra, and is the artist-in-residence at Ville Platte Arts Council and an 8-G grant. Her large groups of students, including performers as young as age 3, have appeared on the nationally acclaimed "Rendezvous des Cajuns" show performing their spirited renditions of Cajun music. Her students were also featured on the CBS series "In A Minute", spotlighting children of Acadiana performing their native music. Mrs. Simon currently resides in Eunice, Louisiana with her husband and her two cats, Ducky and Minou. Her two daughters, Celeste Lane and Julianna Bueche, carry on the family tradition by giving the gift of music to the people of Acadiana and elsewhere.
