Summer String Camp
Week of June 23-27, 2025 (8:45 am-4:30 pm)
For ages 8-15, with minimum of 1 year of experienceThis weeklong, full day string music camp is pen to all string players in the classical and folk traditions – violin/fiddle, viola, cello, ukulele, guitar, etc. This camp is recommended for ages 8 to 15 with at least one year of experience. String Camp participants will build musical skills, learn to play in a group, meet new friends, and have fun while building their instrumental abilities and musicianship. Solos, duets, and ensemble work will build confidence, cooperation, and performance skills. There will also be outdoor time, breaks and art activities.

GMSI 2025 is Sunday July 13 to Friday July 18!
The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute, located in Rochester, Vermont, is an approved Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Institute for violin, viola, cello,, flute, and piano students ages 4-adult. Our enthusiastic professional staff is committed to creating an inspiring week of music and fun for your family, providing motivation and reinforcement for home study.
Each student at the institute has a master class and group lesson every day. In addition, each student chooses 3 elective classes from the following options: orchestra, composition, fiddling, viola for violinists, yoga or art. Advanced students may participate in a chamber music group (additional fee), coached daily. Piano students get to play Piano Duets (for four hands).
A parent is required to accompany the student (or be nearby, on the grounds) throughout each day.
The Institute is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with other parents and teachers, reinforce each other's efforts, and learn new skills for working with their children. Every year, parents tell us that attending GMSI with their children is the "best family vacation" they have ever had!

GMYS has held a residency week at Northern Vermont University-Johnson since 2006. It has become an integral part of our program for our intermediate to advanced musicians and many of them tell us it’s the highlight of their musical year!
Intermediate - Advanced student musicians of all orchestral instruments are invited to apply.

Kinhaven is located in Weston, VT, and hosts a six-week senior session for high school-age students as well as a 2-week junior session for 4th-8th grade.
They also host several sessions for adults, including a Young Artists Seminar for pre-professional music students, an Adult Piano Workshop, and Adult Chamber Music Workshop. There is more information about each session, including cost, at our website: https://kinhaven.org
Kinhaven is a part of the American Camp Association, as well as the Equality Arc Common App for Summer Study. Our Senior and Junior Sessions are open to all orchestral instruments as well as piano!

Cost: $800This camp is geared toward students in our rising seventh to tenth grade classes who have three or more years of experience, and rising sixth grade students who are seeking a challenging musical experience. This camp is intended for students for whom playing their instrument is a significant priority, and who are ready to go more deeply into challenging music. Students should expect to be immersed in the work through these two weeks, with an outcome of developing both their technical skills and musicianship. In addition, students will play bells, hear music-related stories, make music-related crafts, and end most days with summer fun activities!
Steve Olson has been our Music Director at LCWS since 2002. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Central Florida and a B.A. in Music Education from Florida State University.

Keep your musical progress going with Mr. Brekke (Orchard Valley Music Teacher) and Ms. Flemming (Orchard Valley Cello Teacher). Students will study music on Orchard Valley’s beautiful campus. Daily Orchestra classes, group musical activities, and weekly private music lessons are included in this Summer experience. When the students are not playing music they participate in a host of camp activities. A performance for family and friends will be given at the conclusion of the program. Children must have their own musical instrument (Violin, Viola, or Cello).
*Exceptions made if a child has prior music experience on their musical instrument.

Trad Camp

A week of immersion in music, song, and dance from Celtic, Old Time, Quebecois and New England traditions. All ability levels welcome.
Days/Times: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (aftercare option until 4:00 pm)
Ages: Youth 8-16 years old. Caregivers can join at a reduced rate.
Tuition: $ 380/youth, $75 add-on for caregiver. Scholarship funds are available.

Summer is a great time to make music, and the Upper Valley Music Center has a variety of programs to choose from.
From summer camps to classes, workshops, and concerts, we hope to offer an opportunity for everyone to make their summer more musical!

SAVE THE DATES: June 23 – June 27
Summer Symphony Camp introduces middle school musicians to playing in a symphony and jazz orchestra. Musicians perform well-known traditional and contemporary works in a fun and supportive environment while making friends with students from across our region.
Camp is designed for string students entering grades 5 through 9, and wind, brass, and percussion students entering grades 6 through 9, who have at least one year of experience. This week-long intensive focuses on fundamentals and new music styles in a large ensemble setting. In addition to daily rehearsals, campers participate in fun electives such as chorus, world drumming, improvisation, and recreation. Camp closes with a culminating concert for family and friends.

Trad Camp is a week-long summer camp for youth aged 9-18. It is a concentrated opportunity to be inspired by, learn about and perform tunes, songs, and dances in a variety of traditional styles.
Campers participate in group sessions each day with a variety of core staff and guest instructors. Sessions include beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Instructors are respected musicians and teachers from the region.
Trad Camp originated as a program of Young Tradition Vermont.

Lock in Rhythms & Get the Beat: Groove to rhythms and practice beats in hands-on activities that will have you dancing and drumming.
Move and Play: Sing, move, and jam in fun games that will bring music to life.
Express themselves: Use music and art to express yourself—every day is an opportunity to create something new!
Jam and Create: Play together, learn songs, and make your own music with friends.
No previous music experience required; just bring your enthusiasm and excitement for learning! This camp is perfect for kids who are curious about music, love to move, and are ready to have fun.

The Turlough O’Carolan Harp Festival and Summer School celebrates the life, music, and legacy of Turlough O’Carolan, one of Ireland’s greatest traditional composers and harpists. It started in 1978 and is held annually, over the August bank holiday, in the picturesque village of Keadue, County Roscommon, the festival brings together harpists, musicians, and music lovers from around the world for a unique cultural experience.
This vibrant event offers a rich blend of performances, workshops, and masterclasses led by world-renowned harpists, musicians, and experts in traditional Irish music. The Summer School is open to harpists and musicians of all skill levels, providing a supportive environment to learn, explore, and deepen their craft while immersing themselves in the traditions of Irish music. It also includes Concerts, Ceili, Harp Recitals and a Harp Competition sponsored every year since we began by local business Arigna Fuels Ltd .
Beyond the music, the festival also celebrates the beauty of the local area, offering attendees a chance to experience the warmth and hospitality of County Roscommon while discovering the stories and landscapes that inspired O’Carolan’s timeless compositions.
