Are you choosing the right Summer Camp for your child?

This is an unabashed plug for a string-oriented music camp if your child plays a bowed, string instrument. Here is why:

1) Maintaining fine motor skills.

2) Expanding the student’s peer group

3) Having fun with music

The Green Mountain Suzuki Institute, located in Rochester, Vermont, is an approved Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA) Institute for violin, viola, cello,, flute, and piano students ages 4-adult. Our enthusiastic professional staff is committed to creating an inspiring week of music and fun for your family, providing motivation and reinforcement for home study.

Each student at the institute has a master class and group lesson every day. In addition, each student chooses 3 elective classes from the following options: orchestra, composition, fiddling, viola for violinists, yoga or art. Advanced students may participate in a chamber music group (additional fee), coached daily. Piano students get to play Piano Duets (for four hands).

A parent is required to accompany the student (or be nearby, on the grounds) throughout each day.

The Institute is an opportunity for parents to share ideas with other parents and teachers, reinforce each other's efforts, and learn new skills for working with their children. Every year, parents tell us that attending GMSI with their children is the "best family vacation" they have ever had!
