INSTRUMENTS: VIOLIN
LOCATION: VERMONT/ONLINE
Soria started learning the violin under the Suzuki method when she was four years old. In 2009, she began studying with Doris Fukawa at The Crowden School in Berkeley, CA. After much consideration, Soria decided to pursue a career in music at the University of Colorado Boulder where she received a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance under Charles Wetherbee. It was during her classes in early music education and violin pedagogy that she discovered her love for teaching.
Pursuing a Master of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Denver, Soria was a Teaching Assistant for Linda Wang's studio and began to teach students actively. She received a Certificate in Suzuki Pedagogy alongside her Master’s and was trained by Laura Schleiger.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
In teaching, Soria draws mostly from the Suzuki method but firmly believes in introducing note reading early on while still developing proper listening skills and ear training. Following her graduation in 2024, Soria moved to Burlington, Vermont, where she currently works full time at Vermont Violins in South Burlington. She teaches after-hours from the store during the week and coaches chamber music with Vermont Suzuki Violins.
