LEARN TO PLAY THE HARP RIGHT HERE IN VERMONT!!!

February 5th - March 12th, 2022 (Every Saturday 10:00 - 10:45 am) At Vermont Violins, South Burlington.

Who can take this course?

- Beginner harp players with little to no experience, looking for a way to begin playing

- Those considering the harp who would like to try it out

- Beginner players who are interested in connecting with other harp players and building a supportive, non-competitive group.

- You do not need to own a harp to participate.

- All Ages welcome.

What will you learn in the course?

- Basic harp tuning and maintenance of your instrument

- Foundational body mechanics at the harp, hand and finger positioning

- Foundational playing skills and plucking techniques

- Overview of different harps and music styles

- Two beginner songs to practice as a group and on your own

*Plus access to Sara for any and all questions about all things harp related

Vaccination Certificate and Masks Are Mandatory. You can email the vaccination certificate copy at info@vermontviolins.com or bring it on your first class.


You have 2 options to choose.

COURSE OPTION 1:

Price For 6 Weeks - $199

This option includes a harp rental provided by Vermont Violins for 6 weeks.

COURSE OPTION 2:

Price For 6 Weeks - $150

This option does not include a harp. You will have to bring your own harp during the sessions.


 

Meet Your Tutor - Sara Forward

An experienced harpist, Sara Forward, began harp lessons at age five. She has played ensemble and solo harps in diverse venues like nursing homes, hospitals, parties, weddings, church events, as well as orchestras. As a licensed clinical social worker, Sara works on children’s disability and inclusion issues at the University of Vermont and specializes in harp therapy that has been an integral part of children and families. Sara approaches teaching with a love of the instrument at the center of the journey, acknowledging that people come to the harp at all ages and with individual goals for their playing. She believes playing the harp can bring joy to the player and the listener and loves sharing that joy with others.
