PURCHASER - ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

Join the Vermont Violins administrative team and apply your accounting skills to the magical world of music!! We are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to assist with several functions in our South Burlington location, with a focus on Purchasing.

FOR IMMEDIATE HIRE
This person would be responsible for:

  • Evaluating customer and stock sale inventory orders in system and converting them to Purchase Orders sent to vendors.

  • Managing an Overheads (non-sale inventory) budget and placing orders

  • Receiving product into our POS software.

  • Entering vendor orders accurately into our system

  • Managing returns, RA’s and vendor credits

  • Resolving fulfillment and vendor invoicing errors with our vendors

  • Maintaining excellent relations with our vendors

  • Evaluating our sourcing of product with a vigilant eye towards sourcing best pricing and best service

  • Other tasks include: filing Sales Tax with states, Preparing payroll data sheets for outside payroll consultants,

A great purchaser knows the value of maintaining excellent vendor relations and can be professional and friendly with outside sales agents. Experience with purchasing is desirable, but general bookkeeping experience can also make a great candidate.

  • A keen appreciation of music and a desire to be a part of making music accessible to our community is very desirable. Ability to play or knowledge of the musical industry is not required.

This position is a full-time, on-site position. We are NOT looking for a consultant or at-home employee. Wage is commensurate with experience. Benefits include Paid Time Off, Retirement, Holidays and Staff Discounts.

MACHINIST / CNC OPERATOR

We are seeking a full or part-time assistant machinist to assist in the production of violins and associate parts in our fully-mechanized, 21’st Century workshop. Working with the Production Manager, this person would assist in the operation of two CNC machines (both 3 axis and 6 axis), troubleshooting standard manufacturing procedures, and preparing fixtures and materials for machine work.

This is a unique opportunity to apply traditional machining skills to a rarified application: violin making. Knowledge of CAD or CAM programming is desired, but not required.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience operating sophisticated power tools and know his or her way around a mechanized workshop. Ability to lift heavier objects and a keen respect for safety is required. A strong team spirit and positive attitude is always welcome and a necessary attribute to the successful candidate.

Vermont Violins offers an excellent wage (salaried if full time, hourly if part time) with benefits…commensurate to experience but starting at $20/hour.
